Law enforcement, corporate budget concerns addressed in new online investigative product
Reno, NV — Not every law enforcement agency benefited from recent federal funding initiatives, yet investigators continue to need tools that can help them document and present evidence of criminal activity on the Internet.
To that end, Vere Software has released the WebCase Internet Investigator's Toolkit, a utility that combines several of the most important features for online investigations.
Free to law enforcement investigators and just $29 to private or corporate investigators, the Internet Investigator's Toolkit provides one-click access to Whois domain ownership information, MX records lookup, Netstat, Ping, Resolve, and Traceroute, among others.
“Other lookup tools are available to Windows XP and Vista users at a cost of up to $249,” said Vere Software President and CEO Todd Shipley. “Our tool is unique in that while it provides many of the same features, these are only the tools the investigator needs most.”
Another key feature is the easy ability for the investigator to save the resulting data. This makes completing investigative reports quicker and easier.
In addition to the WebCase Internet Investigator's Toolkit, a free Vere Software online investigation toolbar is now available. Free to any user, it provides law enforcement, private, and corporate investigators with the basic tools they need to investigate crime on the Internet: trace IP addresses, collect and gather information from the Web, and access Vere Software's eLearning resources and forum.
Both the Toolkit and the toolbar are downloadable at http://veresoftware.com/webcase_overview/downloads.
WebCase is the flagship product of Vere Software, Inc. The first software built for legally defensible evidence collection from Web pages and social networking sites, WebCase digitally “fingerprints” its evidence using commonly accepted hash algorithms. It is designed to be accessible to investigators in a variety of vertical markets, including private investigation, insurance, human resources, and banking.
